Christine Clark
CHRISTINE CLARK
Master Pastellist
Chris has a natural talent as a realist artist, she loves to paint and draw and has been painting, exhibiting, and selling her work for over 28 years. Chris is represented in many private and corporate collections throughout Australia, New Zealand, England, and Japan as well as being in the collection of our Ex Deputy Prime Minister of Australia, John Anderson.
In the last 9 years Chris has been working almost exclusively in Pastel, enjoying their vibrant colours and immediacy, which excites her and she is very passionate about working with this medium.
Living on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland (with her family for the past 16 years) has inspired a variety of subjects, figures, portraits, animals, seascapes & some flowers.
Chris’ passion is painting figures, she enjoys portraying her view of the world, like the charm of children at play, ballerinas’ or people enjoying the different aspects of life. Her paintings capture precious moments in everyday life that tell a story, appealing to a wide audience and hence her work is very popular.
Born in Melbourne in Victoria, Australia, she has always loved drawing and was inspired while growing up looking at her grandfather’s pastel paintings on the walls in her aunt’s home. Unfortunately Chris never met her grandfather as he passed on before she was born.
Chris studied firstly in oil at TAFE and later studied watercolour at the Victorian Artists Society in Melbourne. She has attended workshops by many of the top award winning, international and Australian artists such as Robert Wade, Greg Allen, Joseph Zubvic, Ron Muller, Ross Paterson, Barbara McManus, Max Wilks, Catherine Hamilton and others.
Since moving to Buderim, Queensland, she joined the Watercolour Society of Queensland, the Pastel Society of Australia, R.Q.A.S. and the Sunshine Coast Art Group, where, over a period of 9 years, taught watercolour and oil to adult students. Chris, together with 4 other local artists, successfully owned and operated the Blue Dolphin Gallery for 7 years, in Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast in Qld. The Gallery was sold in 2006. In July 2007 Chris achieved Master Pastellist status from The Pastel Society of Australia. Chris currently paints full time, exhibits her work and teaches workshops in pastel.
